Job Summary:

Montrose County School District is seeking a skilled Plumber Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing skilled work in assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing pipes, fittings, and fixtures pertaining to heating, water, and drainage systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install general plumbing systems to current codes and maintain and repair existing systems.
  • Install, maintain, and repair various types of water heating and low-pressure boiler units and systems.
  • Repair and replace pipes and control valves, fittings, and a variety of other fixtures and devices.
  • Cut, thread pipes, and join pipes and lines utilizing a variety of techniques and materials.
  • Clean and remove obstructions from drains, water, and sewer systems.
  • Install and maintain backflow devices to ensure that potable water lines are protected.
  • Plan, organize, and lay out work in accordance with blueprints, schematics, and building code requirements.
  • Requisition, order and maintain an adequate inventory of plumbing related parts, and materials.
  • Estimate labor and material project costs.

Requirements:

  • Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying.
  • Completion of 4-year apprenticeship.
  • Preferred: Two years of experience as a licensed journeyman plumber.
  • Journeyman Plumber's License.

Working Conditions:

This type of work will involve ascending and descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps, and will involve walking or standing for extended periods.

Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate equipment and use hand tools, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important aspects of this job.
