Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Charge Nurse to join our Medical Oncology team at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the infusion area, supervising staff, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct the daily operations of the Medical Oncology infusion area.
  • Supervise and mentor staff to ensure optimal patient care and team performance.
  • Facilitate communication with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.
  • Monitor medical charts and administer compassionate care to patients and families.
  • Participate in performance improvement activities to enhance departmental efficiency and quality.
  • Assist with scheduling and record-keeping to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Liaise with doctors and administrators to communicate protocol changes and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Charge Nurse or similar role.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Compassionate and sound judgment with problem-solving abilities.
  • ONS/Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certification preferred or obtained within 3 months.
  • BLS Required.
  • Current NYS RN License.
  • Experience in Cerner/Power Chart EMS preferred.
