JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
POSITION: ATTORNEY – SHOW LOW OFFICE
OVERVIEW: Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. is seeking a dedicated attorney to join its Show Low office. This program provides essential legal services across nine counties in Arizona and eleven Indian Reservations. The Show Low office focuses on serving the communities of Navajo, Apache, and Gila Counties, situated in the picturesque White Mountain region of Northeastern Arizona. This area is known for its recreational opportunities, including skiing, fishing, and hunting. The current team includes a Managing Attorney, a Paralegal, and additional support staff. The role encompasses a diverse array of civil legal representation and litigation aimed at assisting low-income individuals. Some travel to various communities within Navajo, Gila, and Apache counties will be necessary.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Candidates must be a member of the Arizona Bar, eligible for admission to the Arizona Bar, or prepare to take the next examination; those licensed for two years in another jurisdiction may practice under special provisions.
2. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of the challenges faced by low-income communities and possess the ability to engage effectively with low-income and community organizations. Initiative, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to work within a multicultural environment are essential.
3. Candidates should have a solid foundation in general civil practice, particularly in matters affecting low-income populations.
COMPENSATION: Salary range based on experience: $50,050 - $86,962; potential for an additional 5% compensation for individuals fluent in a language other than English that is spoken by more than 10% of SALA's eligible client population. Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. offers financial support for attorneys managing law school debt and provides a comprehensive benefits package.
