Maintenance Mechanic 3 Job Description

Job Summary:

Maintenance Mechanic 3 is responsible for maintaining and servicing equipment and systems used in bulk liquid storage and drumming operations to ensure safe and efficient flow of work. The successful candidate will perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, diagnose, and repair equipment related to the unloading, loading, transfer, and storage of liquid chemicals.
  • Respond to call-outs to perform maintenance duties.
  • Perform basic pump maintenance, including preventative maintenance.
  • Provide training to operators on proper operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.
  • Oversee construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.
  • Maintain a work order system to track preventative maintenance and routine repairs.
  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics, and mechanical systems, including drumming systems and drumming conveyors.
  • Repair and lubricate machines, equipment, and heavy equipment.
  • Operate a variety of tools and equipment, including cutting torches, welders, forklifts, hand tools, power tools, and electric meters.
  • Assist other electrical maintenance personnel in the performance of assigned duties.
  • Issue safe work permits, including general work, inspection, lockout/tagout, and hot work.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, including proper storage of tools, hoses, and cleanliness of work areas, proper wear of personal protective equipment, and immediate containment and reporting of any spills or unsafe conditions.
  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork, as well as upkeep maintenance files as needed.
  • Develop and implement successful parts inventory strategies.
  • Coordinate with Operations Administrators for all PMs, work orders, and job scheduling.
  • Attend daily, weekly, and monthly safety meetings.
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, and near misses to the foreman or management.
  • Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere for all employees and visitors.

Requirements:

  • Certifications, licenses, registrations:
  • Ability to possess a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification.
  • Competencies, skills, abilities:
  • Must be proficient with the use of power tools, hand tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, prioritize work schedules, focus attention on details, and follow rules.
  • Must possess basic math skills, computer skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical Demands:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, willing to work in protected areas at heights up to 75 feet above ground.
  • Must be able to work at elevations up to 75 feet.
  • Ability to perform tasks while wearing a full-face respirator or supplied air.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
  • Must be able to hear and smell for deficiencies or hazards.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces (inside storage tanks).

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to work around water (dock).
  • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required.
  • Must be available to respond to call-outs as assigned.
  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisors, keep required work schedules, focus on attention to details, and follow work rules.
