Residential Care Specialist

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Residential Care Specialist to join our team at Canopy, a Great Place to Work. As a key member of our CARES Center program, you will provide a nurturing environment for youth, helping them thrive and overcome extraordinary challenges.
About the Role:
- Provide therapeutic activities and support to foster healthy relationships with youth through relational supervision.
- Teach essential life skills, including communication, coping mechanisms, and independent living skills, tailored to individual needs.
- Be an exemplary adult role model, contributing to a positive team culture and ideal team player.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach daily living skills, social interactions, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and independent living skills to youth.
- Implement therapeutic systems, assigning consequences and restorative tasks as needed to ensure optimal growth.
- Proactively de-escalate out-of-control behavior and observe clients to prevent such situations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, clinical staff, and administrative teams regarding client concerns.
- Transport clients safely and responsibly in agency vehicles when necessary.
- Utilize safe physical intervention techniques according to MAB curriculum when required.
- Debrief with youth after emergency safety interventions (ESI).
- Ensure facility and client safety by reporting environmental concerns to supervisors.
- Participate in scheduled training to meet licensing and accrediting agency requirements.
- Engage in pre-shift meetings to maintain open communication and ensure a safe, therapeutic shift.
- Navigate electronic medical records and complete accurate documentation.
- Complete paperwork on overnight shifts, including reports, behavior sheets, and roster reports.
- Exemplify knowledge and implementation of all policies and procedures for the program.
About You:
- A minimum of one year of experience in residential or related mental health treatment settings; or equivalent degree without prior experience.
- Desirable qualifications include experience working with children and adolescents, and some college credit.
- You must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver's license, and be covered by agency insurance.
- Solid English language proficiency is essential for effective communication with clients and colleagues.
