Key Responsibilities- Examine customer specifications using drawings, work orders, or blueprints to determine the characteristics of the finished item, materials to be used, and machine setup requirements.
- Fabricate work pieces as determined by work order specifications, retrieving correct materials and performing various fabrication duties.
- Examine work pieces visually, by touch, or using tape rules, calipers, or gauges to ensure products meet desired standards.
- Packages products for shipping and installs protective devices, such as bracing, padding, or strapping, to prevent shifting or damage to items being transported.
- Maintain the condition of the work area, ensuring it is free of trash and products are in the correct location.
- Follow company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Select correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction.
- Seek advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from a supervisor.
- Exercise limited latitude/independent judgment under close supervision.
- Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.
The Fabrication Specialist will typically be located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
The position requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting, and maneuvering material or equipment that may be heavy (50+ pounds) or awkward.
The Fabrication Specialist may be required to travel overnight less than 10% of the time.
Education and ExperienceA High School Diploma or GED is strongly preferred. 0-2 years of experience in the area of responsibility is required.
Preferred qualifications include a strong commitment to building America and a desire to play a role in the company's mission.
