AV Field Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled AV Field Engineer to join our team at New Era Technology. As an AV Field Engineer, you will be responsible for working closely with our engineering team to bring newly installed AV and multimedia systems to completion.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to complete drawing reviews and ensure that New Era Technology's standards are upheld on all AV and multimedia systems.
  • Oversee and support multiple projects occurring simultaneously, reviewing project requirements and scheduling remote and onsite support time to complete projects in a timely fashion.
  • Support Project Managers and Engineers regarding project-specific technical requirements, participating in engineering discussions and QC systems installed by others.
  • Train clients on the use of AV systems, support the install team in the installation of systems as needed, and crimp, solder, wire pull, label, terminate, and other technical tasks associated with AV systems.
  • Fabricate AV systems in the field and in-house as needed, stage AV systems in-house as needed, and install and label equipment into racks.
  • Dress cables in racks, under tables, in credenzas, in lecterns/podiums, etc., label and terminate cables both in and out of racks, and document equipment (serial numbers, MAC addresses, IP addresses, etc.).
  • Manage inventory control and chain of custody, read and markup project documents, maintain a clean and organized work area, and configure, load, test, and troubleshoot control systems programming.
  • Write, load, and tweak DSP files, write, load, and test basic configurable systems, work closely with the programmer (in-house or sub-contractor), and troubleshoot and repair newly installed and existing custom AV systems.
  • Provide detailed daily reports of work completed and open punch-list items, read, understand, and follow any consultant documentation, use hand and power tools, and safely use ladders, scaffolding, and lifts.
  • Lift heavy and bulky equipment, understand and meet all deadlines, resolve all customer service issues with management, maintain a professional appearance and attitude, and work to achieve 100% customer satisfaction 100% of the time.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, provide excellent customer service through a professional attitude, and perform other duties as deemed necessary by management.
Requirements:
  • Strong client and service-focused mindset, excellent listening skills, and the ability to understand customer issues.
  • Understanding of how audiovisual systems function and how to diagnose and resolve problems within those systems.
  • Ability to use discretion and good judgment regarding sensitive or confidential information.
  • Proficient with computers, including audiovisual applications (ClearOne, AMX, Extron, Crestron, Poly, Cisco, QSC, Biamp, etc.).
  • Clean driving record, ability to work flexible hours, and period domestic and international travel.
  • Excellent organization skills, proven multitasking skills, and ability to work under extreme pressures.
  • Solid soldering skills, valid US Passport, and a minimum of four years of AV experience with proven proficient skills required for Field Engineer level from New Era Technology, PA Field Personnel Matrix.
Education and Language:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • English language proficiency.
Work Environment:
  • New Era Technology office and client sites, domestic and international.
  • Business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with required work hours varying depending on business needs.
