About the Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join WSP's Clean Energy Business Line as a Lead Hydropower Electrical Engineer - Power Interconnection Design. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-voltage electrical systems for hydropower projects, including pumped storage and grid interconnection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop high-voltage electrical systems for hydropower projects, including pumped storage and grid interconnection.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver projects from conceptual stages to construction.
  • Procure materials, estimate project costs, and conduct quality control reviews.
  • Prepare drawings and specifications for various deliverables, working closely with the drafting department.
  • Regularly meet and correspond with clients, material vendors, and subcontractors.
  • Travel for project site meetings and field evaluations.
  • Actively engage and support business development initiatives in the hydropower market.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • 7+ years of experience in high-voltage design for renewable developers and electrical utility clients supporting integrated generation and transmission on 69kV to 500kV.
  • Engineer license required.
  • Knowledge of applicable industry standards, including the National Electric Code (NEC), National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and IEEE.
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with team members, contractors, and clients.
  • Experience with design software, including AutoCAD and MicroStation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
  • Experience working in consulting firms and hydro, solar, wind, biomass, and thermal projects.
  • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR preferred).
  • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training desired.
