Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Technician III to join our team at Scotland County NC. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely management of financial records and reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inventory, purchase, and distribute supplies and equipment as needed for the agency with the approval of the supervisor.
  • Manage payee accounts, ensure monthly bills are paid, allowances are provided, deposits are correct and posted accurately, and accounts are not overspent.
  • Complete financial records and reports in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring expenditure and revenue data are provided to the county finance office in a timely manner.
  • Report any information considered costly program errors and/or budgetary concerns to the supervisor, adhering to all internal controls and reporting any violations or concerns.
  • Attend meetings as required to stay informed of changes in County, State or Federal regulations and/or policy, adhering to County, State, and Federal standards.
Requirements
  • Considerable knowledge of accounting and auditing principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of and ability to explain, and apply the provisions of the standardized accounting practices.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze accounting data and apply that analysis to the departmental or institutional needs and determine compliance with pertinent guidelines, rules, regulations, and laws.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of related contact agencies, departmental staff, and the general public.
  • Communicate effectively in oral and written form.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduation from a high school including or supplemented by basic courses in bookkeeping or accounting and three years experience in bookkeeping or accounting clerical work in an accounting office.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
