About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and safety-minded Laborer/Groundman to join our team at MasTec Communications Group. As a key member of our construction team, you will play a vital role in the development and expansion of our telecommunications infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide general labor support for aerial and underground construction projects, ensuring a high level of quality and safety.
  • Conduct manual tasks such as digging trenches, unloading building materials, and preparing job sites using hand tools.
  • Assist in the placement of conduit as directed by Foreman or Supervisor.
  • Participate in map reading and directions to ensure accurate project execution.
  • Support with trench digging and closing, as well as the movement of materials and vehicles as directed.
  • Perform maintenance services, including cleanup, washing vehicles, and landscaping, as directed by Foreman.
  • Operate vehicles and equipment, including trucks and other machinery, in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Tow trailers with flatbed trucks and conduct aerial/underground work as needed and directed.
  • Troubleshoot RF and Fiber line and equipment issues, and construct and repair underground RF and Fiber service.
  • Learn to read and construct from a design schematic of map, and become familiar with NESC safety guidelines.
Requirements
  • A strong commitment to safety and a track record of completing work with a high level of quality.
  • The ability to figure out hard problems and enjoy a hands-on approach to work.
  • A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record.
  • The ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs, and read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process.
  • Climbing certification or related experience, and practical working experience in overhead construction for both RF and Fiber.
  • Knowledge of Overhead Bill of Materials, City, County, and State clearance code knowledge, and extensive knowledge of Network architecture and design for both RF and Fiber networks.
  • Flagger Certified for field work as needed, and excellent verbal, written, phone, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced high volume work environment.
