As a Forester I with the Department of Forestry & Fire Protection, you will play a critical role in maintaining the health and sustainability of California's forests and natural resources.
Job Summary:This position requires a strong understanding of forestry principles, practices, and regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting field surveys, analyzing data, and developing recommendations for forest management and conservation.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct field surveys and assessments to identify forest health issues and develop recommendations for management and conservation.
- Analyze data and develop reports to inform forest management decisions.
- Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to develop and implement forest management plans.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to other foresters and natural resource professionals.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest forestry research, technologies, and best practices.
- Registration as a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with the California State Board of Forestry and Fire Protection.
- Two years of experience in forestry or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
This position requires working in a variety of outdoor environments, including forests, rangelands, and other natural areas. The successful candidate must be able to work in a physically demanding environment and be willing to travel to remote locations.
