Certified Nursing Assistant Job Description

Cedarhurst Senior Living seeks a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join our team. As a CNA, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional care and support to our residents, enabling them to maintain their independence and quality of life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist residents with personal care needs, including grooming, hygiene, dressing, and nutrition.
  • Respond to resident needs in a proactive and timely manner, using a signal light, bell, or intercom system.
  • Take and record vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates, as directed.
  • Transport residents or assist them with walking, turning, or repositioning as needed.
  • Perform various tasks, including changing bed linens, running errands, directing visitors, and answering the telephone.
  • Assist with laundry and housekeeping duties, ensuring a clean and comfortable environment for residents.
  • Encourage and assist residents to participate in activities, promoting their physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Listen to and understand resident concerns, reporting observations to the care team as needed.
  • Strive to maintain the ultimate goal of returning residents to their maximum level of self-care and independence, when possible.
  • Understand and respect resident Advance Directives, following their wishes.
  • Ensure effective communication with residents' families regarding their care, encompassing physical, personal, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Work collaboratively with others, taking direction from management and taking initiative to engage in conflict resolution as needed.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited CNA program preferred.
  • One year of experience as a certified nursing assistant preferred.
  • CPR or BLS certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Internet browsers, Microsoft Office programs, and electronic health records systems.
  • Dependable and able to meet scheduling requirements with no restrictions.
  • General knowledge of laws and restrictions regarding senior living care, as well as a solid understanding of opportunities and limits of other levels of care within senior living.
