Fort HealthCare is a patient-centered hospital and healthcare system serving individuals, businesses, and families in Jefferson, Dane, and Walworth Counties. We are seeking a skilled Hyperbaric Technician to join our Wound Clinic team.
Job Summary:The Hyperbaric Technician will administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Physician supervising HBO. This role requires the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support system(s).
Responsibilities:- Assist in identifying, orienting, and educating patients for HBO therapy.
- Lead the insurance pre-authorization and re-authorization process and complete checklists for each HBOT/potential HBOT client.
- Prepare patients for treatment, lifting or transferring them into and out of the chamber as necessary.
- Record complete and accurate medical data as it pertains to treatment in two systems.
- Monitor patient safety and condition during HBO treatment.
- Utilize data software for wound management to make accurate and appropriate entries for daily hyperbaric treatments and wound care clinic visits.
- Apprise Center management immediately of patient care issues, complications, or interruptions to treatment.
- Perform hyperbaric chamber operations and system maintenance to ensure all safety requirements are met.
- Recommend safety policies and incorporate new safety procedures as appropriate.
- Conduct special studies testing for patients, including ABI, SPP, and TCom, and report findings to the physician for interpretation.
- Assist with safe building oversight and perform semi-annual safety/fire drills.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associates degree preferred.
- Certified and/or licensed in one of the following vocations from an accredited institution and coursework: Respiratory Therapist, Diver Medic, Corpsman, Medical Services Specialist, EMT, Paramedic, Registered Nurse, LPN, Medical Assistant, Chamber Technician/Operator, Diving Medical Technician, or Certified Hyperbaric Technologist.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Word, and able to navigate through the internet and intranet.
- Able to learn internal clinical outcome database and upload photographs from a camera.
- Certified as a CHT or DMT within one year of hire.
