Senior Electrical Engineer

At Burns & McDonnell, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to lead our electrical design project teams. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating world-class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across various industries.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead electrical design project teams to create innovative and efficient designs
- Collaborate with project managers to develop project schedules, scopes, and budgets
- Develop and implement electrical design plans, adapting to budget constraints, design factors, and client needs
- Prepare electrical equipment specifications, data sheets, and purchase recommendations
- Review electrical equipment vendor drawings and data interface with suppliers, clients, and other engineering disciplines
- Participate in the development of project schedules, scopes, budgets, and staffing plans
- Manage change orders and ensure effective project execution
- Apply expert knowledge of electrical concepts, practices, codes, and procedures
- Lead quality reviews of production drawings and project-related data
- Collaborate with field personnel to resolve design-related installation issues
- Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications
- Build effective relationships with clients, customers, and contractors
- Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits
- Lead the development of cost proposals and qualification statements
- Prepare and present project budgets and cost estimates
- Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to less experienced engineers
- Ensure adherence to QA/QC processes and company safety policies
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program
- Or Bachelor of Science in Electrical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited program and successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering a plus
- 7 years of electrical engineering experience, with EPC project experience preferred
- Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred
- Expert knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures
- Strong knowledge of electrical equipment design ANSI and IEEE Standards
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to lead the discipline design for large projects and delegate work tasks to team members
- Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications
