Position Overview

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in fulfilling the mission of Providence Health & Services by collaborating with residents, staff, visitors, and volunteers. The CNA adheres to all applicable policies and procedures while operating within the scope of practice for certified nursing assistants. The activities performed by the CNA are overseen by the nurse on duty during each shift, and the CNA is responsible for communicating significant resident information to the nurse during the shift and at the change-of-shift report.

Responsibilities may encompass resident care within the designated unit or any unit as directed by the nursing staff during the shift. The CNA serves as an advocate for residents, ensuring their choice, independence, privacy, dignity, and security are maintained. Additionally, the CNA assists residents in enhancing their quality of life, supports them in daily living activities, and encourages them to achieve as much independence as they desire.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Upon employment: Certification as a Nursing Assistant in Washington State
  • Within 30 days of employment: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
