Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Accounting Manager in the end-of-month financial closing activities and upkeep of general ledger accounts, which includes reconciliations and variance assessments.
  • Prepare and document journal entries as part of the month-end closing cycle.
  • Compile and submit quarterly federal and state payroll tax returns, sales tax filings, and annual business license tax reports.
  • Assist the Accounting Manager in managing vendor relationships and ensuring adherence to internal control protocols; guarantee timely processing of invoices and payables to streamline the month-end closing process.
  • Provide assistance, as necessary, in the collection of overdue premiums, fees, and other revenue sources.
  • Reconcile bank and investment accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Maintain tax compliance by preparing relevant periodic tax reports along with statutory and regulatory documentation, either in a supporting or leading capacity as directed by management.
  • Ensure strict adherence to company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Facilitate the annual external audit by preparing and submitting requested financial and operational data.
  • Offer support to the Accounting Manager in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, particularly in month-end closing processes.
  • Fundamental understanding of accounting principles related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, financial statements, and general ledger.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Highly detail-oriented and precise in work execution.
