Job Title: Red Shield Program Leader

Job Summary:
The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Program Leader to join our Red Shield team. As a Program Leader, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and supportive environment for youth to grow and thrive. You will work closely with Program Aids and directors to deliver programming that meets the ever-changing needs of our youth.

Responsibilities:
• Assist with afterschool and summer programming, providing supervision, guidance, and care for children in an educational, enrichment, and recreational setting.
• Provide leadership support to Corps ministry components integrated into the afterschool and summer program.
• Coordinate with the Red Shield Team for afterschool pickups and driving responsibilities from district D-11 school.
• Develop partnerships with parents and responsive relationships with children.
• Assist in maintaining discipline and encouraging all children to follow rules.
• Assist in general setup and cleanup of the program area and with the opening/closing of the facility.
• Supervise rotations and sign-in and sign-out.
• Lead activities in their departments – Gym or Education.
• Ensure each child is accounted for at all times.
• Maintain a safe environment.
• Report all issues to Program Managers.
• Attend mandatory Staff Trainings.

Requirements:
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 3 months of full-time or equivalent part-time verifiable experience working with children.
• Ability to drive in inclement weather situations.
• Ability to drive a 15-passenger van and 14-passenger Chevy bus.
• Ability to establish and cultivate healthy relationships with children and parents.
• Preferred history of providing professional, effective programming with children and families.
• Desire to serve others by building on their strengths.
• Teachable spirit.
• Competent in working independently within clear parameters in a team environment.
• Self-motivated, energetic, outcome-oriented individual who demonstrates strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to take initiative and work creatively.
• Communicates clearly.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a diverse audience.
• Ability to handle several projects and prioritize work.
• Commitment to social inclusion.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain records.
