Ferry Captain

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Ferry Captain to join our team at Dewees Island Property Owners. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for providing safe and efficient transportation to and from the island for property owners, guests, and employees.

The Ferry Captain will be responsible for operating the ferryboat, ensuring compliance with US Coast Guard regulations, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. You will also be responsible for providing excellent customer service, responding to emergencies, and performing routine maintenance tasks.

1. Pilot the ferryboat safely and efficiently, adhering to US Coast Guard regulations and Dewees Island POA policies.
2. Provide exceptional customer service to property owners, guests, and employees, ensuring a positive experience for all.
3. Conduct daily checks of the ferryboat's engine systems and report any concerns or issues to the island manager.
4. Maintain accurate records of ferryboat operations, including service records, fueling records, and other pertinent information.
5. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe working environment, including the ferryboat and surrounding areas.
6. Respond to emergencies and provide assistance as needed.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A valid Captain's license with the United States Coast Guard.
• At least one year of vessel experience, including handling and splicing of sheets, lines, tackle, and mooring equipment.
• Extensive knowledge of Coast Guard regulations and boating safety.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
