HVAC Systems Technician II

Under minimal supervision, the HVAC Systems Technician II is responsible for conducting preventive maintenance, repairs, installations, commissioning, and general servicing of control systems. This role includes performing point-to-point checks to ensure proper installation of control systems and completing assigned system commissioning along with device verification.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control issues related to HVAC systems.
- Complete all necessary project documentation accurately and promptly.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through direct, on-site interaction.
- Execute HVAC Building Automation projects, including start-up, testing, diagnostics, and commissioning for small to medium-sized new or retrofit projects.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to guarantee optimal system performance.
- Diagnose and repair control components and systems, as well as mechanical and electrical issues related to BAS operations.
- Understand complex control systems, including networking and integration troubleshooting.
- Write, create, load, test, and commission programming software and graphics using various programming languages.
- Communicate effectively with customers upon arrival and before departure from the work site.
- Train customers on control system operations and provide necessary documentation.
- Compile and submit job documentation, including commissioning documentation and punch lists.
- Coordinate with service managers and subcontractors to ensure project activities are conducted ethically and professionally.
- Assist sales teams by providing technical recommendations for retrofits, upgrades, and enhancements.
- Engage in self-study to maintain technical proficiency in company product lines and complete required certifications.
- Load and update software on network controllers, field controllers, computers, and servers.
- Submit timely electronic documentation, including time sheets and expense reports.
Qualifications
Extensive knowledge of various electronic or digital control systems is required. Candidates should possess:
- A vocational school four-year program graduate or an Associate's degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a related field. Relevant experience may offset educational requirements.
- One to three years of progressively responsible experience in servicing electronic controls and HVAC equipment.
- Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company professionally.
- Experience in writing and a solid understanding of computer programs and software applications related to the HVAC industry.
- A valid driver's license with a clean record.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay rate ranges from $29/hr to $34/hr, depending on experience. Benefits include:
