Job Overview

Helen Keller Services for the Blind is a leading organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals who are blind, visually impaired, or have combined hearing and vision loss. We are seeking a highly qualified Special Education Teacher to join our Children Learning Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced teacher with a Master's Degree in Special Education to conduct a special education preschool classroom for children who are blind/visually impaired or on the autistic spectrum. The successful candidate will develop individualized instruction plans, work collaboratively with therapists and other staff members, and maintain positive relationships with families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized instruction plans for students with diverse needs.
  • Collaborate with therapists and other staff members to provide comprehensive support to students.
  • Maintain accurate attendance records and submit monthly reports to the principal.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills and stay updated on best practices.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Special Education as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or as a Special Education Teacher from an accredited Teacher Preparation program.
  • Valid New York State Teachers License as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired or as a Special Education Teacher.
