Job Overview

W3Global Inc is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Supervisor to lead our substation design and development projects. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire project lifecycle, from project scoping and site walkdowns to project design estimate and proposal preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project scoping and site walkdowns to ensure accurate project requirements and timelines.
  • Project design estimate and proposal preparation to secure client contracts.
  • Collaboration with clients on business development to identify new project opportunities.
  • Quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) checking of design packages to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Technical support to junior engineers on substation P&C and physical design.
  • Substation package development, including but not limited to BKR upgrades, bus protection, transformer replacement and protection, RTU upgrades, line and bus work, fiber upgrades, and feeder breaker replacement.
  • Preparation of engineering and construction estimate documents, including bill of materials, yard layouts, plans, and section views.
  • Good understanding of substation ground grid, rigid and strain bus, and raceway designs.
  • Creation and modification of technical specifications for major substation equipment, such as power transformers, power circuit breakers, and control houses.
  • Answering questions from engineering, construction, testing, and commissioning support teams.
  • Performing basic calculations, such as voltage drop, CT burden and saturation, lighting, and short circuit.
  • Travel to various substations as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the utility industry or ability to perform QA/QC on substation projects.
  • Avangrid utility experience is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards, such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, NEMA, and ANSI.
  • P.E. license required. Can waive this requirement with experience.
