Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Residential Counselor to join our team at one of our 6-bed teen residential treatment centers. As a Residential Counselor, you will provide supervision and support to up to 6 adolescents who are in residential treatment for 30-60 days. You will facilitate groups and activities, and work closely with our clients to help them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one support and supervision to clients struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues
  • Establish positive and nurturing relationships with the clients, within professional boundaries
  • Maintain vigilance and awareness of the milieu while monitoring the behavior, activities, and safety of the clients
  • Engage in activities with the clients, such as hikes, equine therapy, surf therapy, and fitness groups
  • Create a constructive therapeutic community in accordance with the Center's policies
  • Conduct and facilitate psycho-education groups and recreational activities
  • Perform crisis management and interventions as necessary
  • Demonstrate model behaviors
  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all shift activities
  • Oversee and participate in meal-times and assist clients with life skills
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or bachelor's degree preferred
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • All schedules require working at least 1 weekend shift
