Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacy Supervisor to join our team at the Department of Veterans Affairs. As a Pharmacy Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our pharmacy department, ensuring that our patients receive the highest quality care and service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess workload shifts throughout the day and make staffing adjustments as needed to meet patient care needs and organizational goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the Associate Chief, Ambulatory Services, and other Pharmacy Service Leadership Supervisors to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Develop clear performance plans and metrics to meet organizational goals aligned with High Reliability (HRO) principles.
  • Function as the clinical educator/trainer and consultative resource on all aspects of drug therapies and issues.
  • Develop and execute high-quality training programs for new hires, students, and residents.
  • Establish and maintain direct report employee competency records in coordination with the administrative support of the Pharmacy Secretary/Administrative Officer.
  • Prepare, review, and complete performance evaluations and appraisals timely and accurately by defined due dates.
  • Provide quarterly progress reviews with outpatient pharmacy technicians.
  • Serve on hospital or departmental committees as requested.
  • Assist in conducting and reporting internal audits as required.
  • Maintain all pertinent professional and administrative records as necessary.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) accredited College or School of Pharmacy with a baccalaureate degree in pharmacy (BS Pharmacy) and/or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in a State, Territory, Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or the District of Columbia.
  • One year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12).
Preferred Qualifications
  • PGY-2 HSPAL and/or equivalent leadership training and/or experience in Outpatient Pharmacy in VA.
