The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) plays a crucial role in delivering anesthesia care during various medical procedures, working collaboratively within a healthcare team under the guidance of an anesthesiologist.
This position requires the CRNA to conduct thorough and continuous patient evaluations, effectively communicate with healthcare professionals, utilize resources wisely to ensure the highest standard of care, and meticulously document all aspects of patient care in the designated records.
The CRNA is responsible for administering general and regional anesthetics, as well as Monitored Anesthesia Care, during surgical and obstetric procedures, all while operating under the medical oversight of an attending anesthesiologist.
Key responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, advising the attending anesthesiologist on suitable anesthetic options, and suggesting administration techniques and necessary supportive measures in accordance with departmental protocols.
Additionally, the CRNA must ensure the functionality of anesthesia machines and monitoring devices, manage supplies, medications, and anesthesia gases, and closely monitor and document the patient's vital signs, including all administered medications and their effects.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (Required)
- Master's Degree in Nursing (Preferred)
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year in critical care nursing as part of a successful CRNA program (Required)
- 2 years of experience in an academic medical center or as a CRNA (Preferred)
Licenses/Certifications:
- PA Registered Nurse License (Required)
- Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (Required)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (Required)
