Instrument Technician

GBA is seeking an Instrument Operator to join our Survey Group in Lenexa, Kansas. As an Instrument Operator, you will assist the Crew Chief with day-to-day operations of collecting survey data. This role requires a strong understanding of survey equipment and the ability to work in a fast-paced outdoor environment.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in operating survey equipment, including robotic total stations, GPS, data collectors, and 3D scanners.
• Collect information needed to carry out new surveys using source maps, previous survey data, photographs, computer records, and other relevant information.
• Accurately reduce field notes and assist with performing boundary, ALTA, topographic, bathymetric, route surveys, and construction staking and layout.
Requirements:
• High School Diploma or equivalent degree.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Basic knowledge of electronic devices and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to take direction and perform duties as required by the Crew Chief.
• Ability to work in a variety of climate situations for extended periods of time and perform duties in an outdoor environment.
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this job include lifting and carrying equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. over rough terrain, using hand tools, and working in a variety of weather conditions. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
