Depending on the location, the Facilities Maintenance Specialist may have varying levels of responsibility to distinguish seniority within the Facilities Management Department.

The specific duties and knowledge required for this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting maintenance and repairs on machines, mechanical equipment, and buildings.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical issues, ensuring compliance with local and state regulations.
  • Performing routine preventive maintenance to guarantee optimal machine performance.
  • Assembling and setting up machinery or equipment as needed.
  • Planning repair tasks using blueprints or diagrams.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of facilities.
  • Ordering necessary supplies from catalogs and storerooms.
  • Preparing cost estimates for repairs.
  • Keeping detailed records of maintenance activities.

The Facilities Maintenance Specialist is tasked with handling maintenance and repair duties that do not require specialized training from licensed tradespeople. This role includes recognizing when a task exceeds their skill level and requires professional expertise.

Additionally, the Specialist will procure supplies and parts from distributors or storerooms to address maintenance issues. A solid understanding of hand and power tools is essential for safe and effective operation during daily tasks.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must maintain the following competencies:

  • Ability to obtain OSHA 10 (Construction Industry) or OSHA 10 (General Industry) safety certification within the first six months of employment.
  • No specific certifications or licenses are required.
  • A minimum of ten years of maintenance experience is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.

Compensation: Hourly Wage $15.00
