Job Title: Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

About the Role:
Magnet Medical is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Imaging Specialist to join our team in Columbus, Ohio. This is a travel position that requires 13 weeks of commitment, with 40 hours worked per week, from Monday to Friday.

Job Description:
A Diagnostic Imaging Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting medical professionals during minimally invasive procedures. These specialists work closely with interventional radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure the success of each procedure. The key responsibilities include:

• Preparing patients for procedures by ensuring all necessary imaging equipment and sterile instruments are available and functioning properly.
• Reviewing patient information, medical history, and previous imaging studies to determine the correct procedure and imaging protocols.
• Verifying patient identity, allergies, and consent forms before the procedure begins and explaining the process to the patient, addressing any concerns they may have.
• Assisting the interventional radiologist during procedures, including angiograms, biopsies, catheter placements, stent insertions, and drain placements.
• Operating imaging equipment such as fluoroscopy units, CT scans, or ultrasound machines to guide physicians during procedures and maintaining a sterile environment by setting up sterile instruments and handling devices as required.
• Administering contrast agents or dyes as directed by the physician to enhance visibility of blood vessels or organs on imaging and monitoring the patient's vital signs during the procedure and reporting any changes to the medical team.

Patient Safety and Comfort:
The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist must ensure patient comfort and safety throughout the procedure by positioning the patient appropriately to obtain optimal images while preventing injury. They must also take precautions to minimize radiation exposure to both the patient and the healthcare team by following radiation safety protocols, using shielding, and optimizing imaging settings.

Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
The specialist is responsible for regularly maintaining and inspecting IR equipment to ensure it is functioning correctly. In the event of equipment malfunctions during procedures, they must troubleshoot the issue to ensure minimal disruption to patient care. Accurate records of equipment use, maintenance, and any issues that arise with the imaging equipment must be kept.

Collaboration with Medical Team:
The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist works closely with interventional radiologists, nurses, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the success of each procedure and high-quality patient care. They provide feedback and support to the medical team during procedures and participate in discussions before and after procedures to review patient conditions, procedural outcomes, and follow-up care.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:
Accurate documentation of all patient information, procedures performed, imaging parameters, and medications administered in the electronic health record (EHR) is essential. All records must be completed in compliance with hospital or clinic policies and regulatory standards, and detailed logs of imaging procedures, contrast agents used, and patient conditions during and after the procedure must be maintained.

Radiation Safety and Compliance:
The specialist must adhere to strict radiation safety protocols to minimize radiation exposure for both the patient and the medical staff. They must also stay updated on the latest radiation safety practices, imaging techniques, and procedural advancements and adhere to healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA, infection control measures, and hospital accreditation guidelines.

Professional Development and Training:
The Diagnostic Imaging Specialist must participate in continuing education and training to remain current with the latest technologies, techniques, and best practices in diagnostic imaging. Obtaining and maintaining certifications in radiologic technology and interventional radiology is also essential, as well as attending relevant workshops, conferences, and seminars.
