Key Responsibilities:
- Manage crew assignments, oversee shift transitions, and handle timekeeping.
- Coordinate overtime requirements and maintain scheduling boards.
- Conduct safety investigations, daily safety checks, and monthly safety training sessions.
- Implement preventative maintenance; oversee maintenance tasks, including work orders.
- Provide monthly totals for financial reporting.
- Track downtime during shifts (OEE).
- Manage inventory and raw material consumption.
- Prepare material requisitions.
- Oversee furnace operations.
- Collaborate with other supervisors to achieve operational goals.
- Administer collective bargaining agreements.
- Communicate safety, quality, and productivity objectives clearly.
- Address personnel matters in accordance with company policies and contracts; develop team members.
- Maintain daily logs.
- Compile reports on safety, quality, and production metrics.
Qualifications:
- A two-year degree in a technical field is required, or a minimum of three to five years of supervisory experience in heavy manufacturing. A four-year degree is preferred.
- 3-5 years of prior supervisory experience.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in PC applications, including Windows, Word, and Excel.
- Familiarity with manufacturing software systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong organizational capabilities.
- Proven teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Value Stream Management is preferred.
- Understanding of the metal industry and related business processes.
- Energetic, disciplined, and focused on building a cohesive operational team.
- Strong interpersonal and business partnership skills, with the ability to engage with all organizational levels.
- Willingness to work flexible hours and shifts.
- Approximately 20% of the role involves office work with standard safety precautions, while 80% is in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery.
