The Travel Nurse RN will be an integral part of the healthcare team, providing exceptional care in a dynamic cardiac unit. This role requires a blend of clinical expertise and compassionate patient interaction.
Certification Requirements- Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH
- Mandatory Certification: ACLS
- Facility: Parkridge Medical Center
- Unit: 3West Cardiac
- Floor: Main - 3rd floor
- Preferred Skills: Cardiac knowledge
- Advanced Skills: Proficiency in Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips
- Procedures: Chest Tube management, wound vac management, EKGs as needed
- Work Schedule: Equivalent of every other weekend (4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule)
- Floating Policy: Flexibility to other M/S areas including general MS, Ortho, PCU, and M/S surgical with oncology, based on skill mix needs.
- Bed Capacity: 30 beds
- Patient Ratio: 5-6 patients per nurse
- Staffing Structure: Includes unit clerk during the day, 2-3 PCTs for day and night shifts, Nursing Supervisor, and Hospitalists
- Equipment Utilized: Welch Allyn vitals neuron, Novameter glucose, Philips Telemetry, and MP2s
- Medication Management: Utilization of WOW with med drawers and PyxisES dispensing system
- Unit Policies: Emphasis on documentation of telemetry application and adherence to NO PASS ZONE for alarms.
Expectations include bedside rounding, hourly rounding with 5Ps checked, and effective communication with PCTs regarding patient needs at the start and throughout shifts. A glass board for departmental focus areas and a scrolling video kiosk are available for updates.
