We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriter to join our Life Sciences team at Liberty Mutual. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for underwriting policies within your authority, making analytical decisions based on data and information provided, and pricing risks. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex and unusual policies, as well as those of high individual line size.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of brokers/agents and clients, leveraging market presence and knowledge to develop and underwrite profitable business.
- Maintain a strong market presence, including established relationships with agents and brokers, and contribute to team projects such as process and tool improvement.
- Collaborate effectively across teams, stakeholders, and partners, and mentor junior underwriters and new hires.
- Analyze departmental portfolios and make suggestions for development, and recognize and communicate emerging trends of exposures within line of business expertise.
- Degree in Business or equivalent typically required.
- A minimum of 2.5 years, typically 3 or more years, of progressive underwriting experience and/or other related experience.
- CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.
- Proven analytical ability to evaluate and judge underwriting risks within scope of responsibility.
- Must demonstrate comprehension of complex technical underwriting issues and be capable of defining and implementing necessary underwriting and administrative processes/workflows.
