Salary: No less than $20.15 per hour based on verifiable similar experience per the negotiated PASS Agreement

Job Summary:
The Specialized Education Support Professional plays a crucial role in assisting the academic, behavioral, and health/hygiene needs of students as directed by Special Education Teachers. This position is responsible for delivering services and support to the instructional program with specific duties including:
  • Facilitating supervision, care, and instruction of students with unique or specialized needs in both general and specialized educational settings.
  • Supporting the implementation of plans, interventions, and strategies for instruction focusing on academic, social/emotional, and life skills.
  • Executing behavioral plans developed by the IEP team for students with behavioral challenges or other special conditions to reinforce learning concepts.
  • Collecting data related to student needs and capabilities.
  • Assisting students who may require toileting, feeding, and lifting.
  • Monitoring students during assigned periods across various school environments (e.g., restrooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, parking lots) to maintain a safe and positive learning atmosphere.
  • The Specialized Education Support Professional may utilize behavioral approaches such as ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) or CPI (Crisis Prevention) to ensure students receive the necessary support to access the least restrictive environment (LRE).
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as a team member.
  • Assist students across various school settings (lunch, recess, restroom).
  • Willingness to work with students with disabilities or special needs.
  • Capability to monitor and manage student behavior.
  • Proficiency in implementing de-escalation techniques.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.

Qualifications:
  • One of the following State of Illinois Licenses registered in Will County: Paraprofessional (ELS(PARA)), Substitute (SUB), or Professional Educator License (PEL).
  • College transcripts with 60+ credit hours or successful completion of the WorkKeys Assessment.
  • Information on how to obtain a Para license is available.
