Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate the maintenance team to ensure efficient operations.
- Guarantee timely execution of maintenance projects and tasks.
- Manage the hiring, training, and disciplinary actions of maintenance personnel in accordance with company policies.
- Oversee inventory management for equipment, parts, and supplies.
- Ensure all maintenance staff possess the necessary licenses and certifications.
- Conduct routine inspections of machinery and facilities to assess maintenance requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive records of maintenance activities, including work orders and repair histories.
- Identify and implement process improvements and cost-saving measures within the maintenance department.
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as required to support the maintenance facility's operations.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma is mandatory; some college education is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience in a maintenance setting is required.
- At least 3 years of experience with heavy equipment is essential; familiarity with hybrid vehicles is advantageous.
- Experience in the transportation sector and working with unions is necessary.
- Proven experience supervising employees across multiple shifts.
- ASE certifications are required.
- Must demonstrate teamwork while also being capable of independent work.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and effective time management are essential.
- Proficiency in Windows-based operating systems and Microsoft Office is required.
- Flexibility to work various hours or shifts is necessary.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands of this role include:
- Frequent standing and walking; ability to sit for extended periods.
- Capability to lift materials weighing between 50 to 75 lbs without assistance.
- Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and crouch as needed.
- Normal manual dexterity and coordination; corrected hearing and vision within normal ranges.
Exposure to various environmental conditions, including dust, vehicle emissions, and noise, is expected. The role may require travel for training and support purposes.
