Role Overview:

As a Breast Imaging Specialist, you will operate under the guidance of a radiologist, delivering diagnostic imaging services to patients of diverse age groups. This role requires proficiency in utilizing various radiographic technologies to generate high-quality images for diagnostic evaluation.

  • Accurately interpret physician directives and established procedural protocols, while effectively preparing and operating radiographic and mammographic equipment.
  • Timely document all patient-related information within the radiology information system, adhering to the workflow of both patients and radiologists.
  • Review patient charts and requisitions to ensure appropriate room setup, identify any specific medical concerns, and confirm that the requested study aligns with diagnostic requirements.
  • Maintain all facets of the imaging area, including technical and administrative tasks, to uphold quality assurance standards and ensure compliance with inspection readiness.
  • Educate patients about procedures, equipment, and examinations to promote understanding and safety throughout the imaging process.
  • Provide coverage as necessary, including during staff absences or increased patient schedules.
  • Mentor new staff members and actively pursue ongoing professional development through in-service training and participation in relevant professional organizations.
  • Offer on-the-job training for individuals with x-ray experience who are interested in expanding their skills into mammography.
Qualifications:

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification, RT.
  • Mandatory: Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (RTR) and a valid Connecticut Radiographer License.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in Mammography, CT scanning, MR imaging, or as a radiologic technologist.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
