The Ohio State University is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a tenure-track faculty position in Biological Engineering. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a nationally and internationally recognized research program in biological engineering, with a focus on commercialization and new venture creation.
Responsibilities- Teach courses related to the development of biotechnology
- Establish a research program in biological engineering, with a focus on commercialization and new venture creation
- Provide leadership in research areas of high priority for the growth of biotechnology beyond medicine, including applications in materials, chemicals, agriculture, sustainability, energy, and the environment
- Mentor students and postdoctoral researchers in research activities
- Develop and teach innovative undergraduate and graduate courses in biological engineering
- Collaborate with university faculty and staff, government agencies, non-government organizations, industry partners, and community groups to advance the land grant mission
- Ph.D. in Biological Engineering or a closely related field
- Record of excellence in teaching, advising, and curriculum development
- Record of extramural grant funding and research collaborations
- Potential for excellence in research and teaching
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work closely with diverse groups of academic and practitioner communities
- Nationally and internationally recognized scholar with an excellent record of productivity
- History of developing and teaching innovative undergraduate and graduate courses in biological engineering
- Experience with curriculum development for undergraduate biological engineering programs
- Demonstrated excellence in advising and mentoring graduate and undergraduate students in research activities
- Track record of working collaboratively with university faculty and staff, government agencies, non-government organizations, industry partners, and community groups to advance the land grant mission
