Key Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical institution; or six (6) months to one (1) year of relevant experience and/or training, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Project Management software, as well as Spreadsheet and Word Processing applications.
  • Certifications: Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic, First Aid, CPR, Erosion Control, Storm Water Management, Confined Space, OSHA 10 Hour, OSHA Competent Person, Trench Safety, Rigging training, Manager training, and Defensive Driving Training.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee the activities of personnel involved in the construction of roadways, water and sewage treatment facilities, piping systems (gravity storm, sewer, and pressure pipe), lift stations, airports, bridges, and channels, either personally or through subordinate staff.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, supervisory staff, engineering teams, inspectors, and subcontractors to plan and execute work procedures, interpret plans and specifications, and coordinate various construction phases to avoid delays and resolve issues.
  • Analyze specifications to devise construction procedures based on start and completion timelines and staffing needs for each construction phase.
  • Examine all plans and project specifications to ensure compliance with the highest standards of quality.
  • Participate in pre-construction and progress meetings to strategize and review all work stages.
  • Assemble team members (supervisory, clerical, engineering, and other staff) at the project commencement.
  • Plan and schedule all job site activities using a two-week look-ahead schedule. Identify design issues and errors, solicit input, and propose solutions.
  • Supervise and inspect ongoing work to guarantee that workmanship adheres to plans and specifications, as well as construction timelines.
  • Prepare or review reports on progress, materials utilized, and costs, adjusting work schedules as necessary.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all work performed to facilitate timely payment applications and subcontractor payments.
  • Direct personnel involved in significant maintenance or refurbishment projects for existing installations.
  • Coordinate with the Equipment Manager regarding equipment service issues and job equipment needs. Order tools, equipment, and materials to be delivered on schedule to meet work timelines. Ensure proper maintenance of materials and equipment on-site.
  • Review and approve personnel actions proposed by Foreman, including promotions, hiring, training, transfers, and disciplinary measures.
  • Work with the Chief Operations Officer and Human Resources Director to address workforce complaints and grievances. Enforce company standards and policies related to safety procedures, reporting any incidents or unsafe practices to management immediately. Conduct weekly safety meetings.
  • Manage subordinate supervisors overseeing Field Operations employees. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of staff. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; timely performance appraisals; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving issues.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors alongside the Project Manager to ensure safety, profitability, and adherence to schedules.
  • Ensure complete understanding and compliance with project contract documents, plans, specifications, subcontracts, purchase orders, shop drawings, and all other project-related documents.
