In this role, you will lead civil engineering designs for advanced data center facilities. Your expertise will be crucial in providing technical guidance and oversight on geotechnical aspects related to construction projects. Collaborating with a talented team of Architects, Engineers, and Designers, you will play a key role in shaping the design of state-of-the-art Data Center sites. • Provide technical advice to project managers, contractors, and stakeholders on geotechnical matters, including foundation design, slope stability, earthworks, pavement design, and groundwater management.
  • Oversee and coordinate external civil design consultants throughout the data center design and construction phases.
  • Review and validate designs for site layout, grading, power substations, stormwater management, utilities, and pavement.
  • Collaborate with internal and external MEP design engineers.
  • Effectively communicate design standards to project partners.
  • Develop, maintain, and update design standards, prototypes, and specifications for data centers and supporting infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with Due Diligence and Real Estate teams to establish site selection criteria and review Due Diligence reports.
  • Create, review, and issue design RFPs for various projects, including data centers and specialized facilities.
  • Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously, proactively overseeing project-specific cost and schedule factors.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at enhancing cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
  • Travel for site assessments, design meetings, construction reviews, and interactions with relevant authorities, with anticipated travel around 25%.

Qualifications:

  • ABET accredited BS in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in geotechnical engineering standards, including soil and rock condition assessments, site suitability analysis, and hazard identification.
  • 2+ years of experience in civil design for data centers or telecom facilities, with knowledge of land use and development practices.
  • Familiarity with scheduling software for land-use approval processes.
  • Understanding of mission-critical equipment and systems, design processes, pre-construction requirements, and construction procedures.
  • Experience with the design or construction administration of electrical distribution systems, ranging from low to high voltage.
