Job Description

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Cloud Data Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our cloud engineering team, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining large-scale cloud-based data systems. Your expertise will be instrumental in helping us deliver cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable cloud-based data architectures using AWS services
  • Develop and maintain high-performance data processing pipelines using Apache Hadoop and Spark
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize technical requirements
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in cloud computing and data engineering
Requirements
  • 12+ years of experience in IT platform implementation, with a focus on cloud computing and data engineering
  • 5+ years of experience with Data Lake/Hadoop platform implementation
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with EMR/Hadoop/Spark implementations
  • Experience with Apache Hadoop and the Hadoop ecosystem
  • Experience with one or more relevant tools (Sqoop, Flume, Kafka, Oozie, Hue, Zookeeper, HCatalog, Solr, Avro)
  • Experience with one or more SQL-on-Hadoop technology (Hive, Impala, Spark SQL, Presto)
  • Experience developing software code in one or more programming languages (Java, Python, etc)
  • Ability to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges in an enterprise environment
  • Hands-on experience leading large-scale global data warehousing and analytics projects
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across organizations
  • Understanding of database and analytical technologies in the industry, including MPP and NoSQL databases, Data Warehouse design, BI reporting, and Dashboard development
  • Demonstrated industry efficiency in the fields of database, data warehousing, or data sciences
  • Implementing AWS services in a variety of distributed computing, enterprise environments
  • Customer-facing skills to drive discussions with senior personnel regarding trade-offs, best practices, project management, and risk mitigation
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • BS in Computer Science, IT, IS, or equivalent area of technical study
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph
Preferred Qualifications
  • AWS experience preferred, but not mandatory
  • AWS Solutions Architect, Developer, or SysOps Administrator Associate Certification
  • Experience working with JSON or YAML to write Infrastructure as Code
  • Familiarity with container orchestration services, especially Kubernetes
  • Experience with development CI/CD tools such as Git, Jira, GitLab, or Jenkins
  • Experience performing software development in Windows or Linux operating system environments
