AvaMed Workforce is seeking a highly skilled Primary Care Physician to join our team at a correctional facility in Vacaville, CA.
Job Summary:We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Primary Care Physician to provide high-quality medical care to inmates at our correctional facility. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:- Provide primary care services to inmates, including medical evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
- Conduct initial mental health evaluations and assess inmate's current needs.
- Develop and implement treatment plans that reflect the standard of practice.
- Consult with supervisors, treatment team members, and other divisions within the department.
- Document all care provided to inmates, including face-to-face contacts and Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IOTTs) meetings.
- Monitor inmate progress using CDCR Mental Health approved documentation formatting for progress notes.
- Perform mental status exam (MSE) in face-to-face clinical interviews.
- Examine prior mental health records, institutional chromos, probation reports, court records, and other available documents to assist in the formulation of patient's diagnosis and aid in the development of the inmate's treatment plans.
- Conduct mental health education and develop additional resources for mentally ill and sex offender patient-inmates.
- Assist patient-inmates in applying for entitlement benefits (SSI), community programs, and services.
- Facilitate patient-inmates transition between various settings within the institution.
- Perform pre-release functions for releasing patient-inmates, to include patient education, while facilitating transition to county mental health and community mental health treatment programs.
- Provide written reports and consults with the Board of Prison Hearings and other CDCR staff.
- Represent the Department at formal and informal settings regarding mental health matters related to clinical social work.
- Protect and maintain safety and security of property, including documentation of unusual occurrences and inventory control of psychological testing material, reference material, computers, and other equipment.
- Maintain order and supervise the conduct of persons committed to the correctional facility in order to prevent escapes or injury by these persons to themselves or others.
- Give input and help implement new programs for the treatment, training, or rehabilitation of patient-inmates.
- Comprehend and adhere to CA and CDCR law, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding the patient's confidentiality, written and electronic medical record documentation, and the release of patient records.
- When conditions are suspected, adhere to mandated reporting requirements pertaining to staff members delivering mental health services, such as reported child abuse, elder abuse, danger to self or other; Tarasoff reporting and other confidentiality mandates.
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Primary Care Physician.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to CA and CDCR law, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Competitive hourly rate of $190.
- Flexible part-time shifts available.
