Position Overview:

We are seeking dedicated Full-Time Floor Technicians for the evening shift. The primary responsibility of the Environmental Services (EVS) Floor Technician is to ensure the maintenance and restoration of floors, utilizing industrial floor care equipment in designated areas.

The EVS Floor Technician may also assist in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms and other hospital facilities, as outlined below.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive floor care duties including sweeping, mopping, buffing, polishing, scrubbing, stripping, and refinishing various hard-surface floors using heavy-duty equipment.
  • Execute maintenance and restorative processes for all types of floor surfaces.
  • Manage waste disposal, including solid, infectious, and pharmaceutical waste.
  • Clear trash, recyclables, soiled linens, and used supplies from assigned areas.
  • Disinfect receptacles and carts as necessary, adhering to established safety protocols.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of hard-surface floor maintenance principles and implement appropriate procedures for floor care.
  • Utilize automated equipment for the cleaning of expansive floor areas.

In addition to core floor care responsibilities, the EVS Floor Technician may be required to assist with general housekeeping tasks, including:

  • Cleaning and polishing lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
  • Maintaining cleanliness in rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, and locker rooms.
  • Cleaning rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
  • Dusting furniture and equipment, polishing metalwork, and washing walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
  • Washing windows, door panels, and sills, emptying wastebaskets, and transporting trash to disposal areas.
  • Replenishing bathroom supplies and setting up tables and chairs as needed.

Qualifications:

Successful candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a medical or religious exemption is granted. Experience in the janitorial sector is advantageous, particularly in medical cleaning.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • One to three months of related experience and/or training is preferred.
  • Prior experience as a floor care technician or in a similar role is desirable.
  • Familiarity with floor care equipment and techniques is preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning agents, equipment, and soil removal methods is beneficial.
