Job Title: Peer Counselor Part-Time

Job Summary:

Transitional Services for New York, Inc. is seeking a Peer Counselor to join our team at The Supported Housing Location in Bellerose, NY. As a Peer Counselor, you will work with individuals in our mental health residential program to develop personalized plans for recovery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide peer counseling and support to individuals in the program.
  • Identify and connect individuals with supportive community resources.
  • Develop and implement recovery readiness services in groups and individual counseling.
  • Assist individuals in developing service/housing plan goals that align with their life goals.
  • Provide referrals to community-based services as needed.
  • Offer mentorship support to individuals living in the program.
  • Engage individuals in program services through outreach and education.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of a Peer Advocacy Training Program.
  • High School diploma or equivalent, with a combination of education and relevant experience totaling four years.
