Cataloging Librarian, Tenure-Track Faculty

We are seeking a highly skilled Cataloging Librarian to join our team at Binghamton University Libraries. As a tenure-track faculty member, you will play a key role in providing bibliographic access and control through metadata and traditional cataloging.
Key Responsibilities- Perform original and complex cataloging for materials in various languages and formats, adhering to national and local standards.
- Conduct associated name, series, and subject authority control work to maintain database integrity.
- Participate in cataloging and metadata projects, resolving bibliographic problems, and assisting with database problem resolution.
- Collaborate with staff and faculty to implement cross-functional initiatives and resolve questions regarding records in the online public catalog.
- Maintain a current knowledge of cataloging, classification, and subject analysis trends, metadata, and automation of cataloging functions.
- Master's degree from an ALA-accredited Master's Program in Library and Information Studies.
- Demonstrated experience cataloging special formats, such as music, film, media, and electronic resources.
- Demonstrated experience working with Special Collections materials, including rare printed and archival materials.
- Ability to apply cataloging tools, including RDA, LCSH, and MARC21 formats.
- Working knowledge of one or more non-Roman scripts.
- Experience with serials and/or ebook cataloging.
- Experience with Alma/Primo or other library services platform.
- Knowledge of one or more non-MARC metadata formats, especially EAD, Dublin Core.
