Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team at VCA Newman Edgewater Animal Hospital. As a Veterinary Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our veterinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide compassionate patient care, including administering medications and performing routine procedures
  • Assist with client education and communication, ensuring that pet owners are informed and engaged in their pet's care
  • Conduct patient assessments, including vital signs and medical history
  • Assist with anesthesia and surgery, ensuring the safety and well-being of patients
  • Perform radiology and laboratory procedures, including taking X-rays and processing lab samples
  • Assist with dentistry and pharmacy, including preparing medications and equipment
  • Maintain accurate medical records, ensuring that patient information is up-to-date and secure

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; veterinary experience preferred
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for long periods, with frequent bending and stooping
