Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Structural Design Engineer to join our team at Metromont. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for the cost-efficient design of precast concrete systems, connections, and components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations and designs for all products and connections.
  • Independently manage engineering design aspects of a project with minimal assistance or guidance.
  • Review contract documents to ensure familiarity with project requirements.
  • Attend project meetings and lead coordination meetings as needed.
  • Write and review requests for information (RFI) to ensure accurate and efficient project execution.
  • Resolve engineering design issues independently and assist others as needed.
  • Check engineering design calculations and details of others for accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to Metromont standards and Engineering Design Process.
  • Review erection drawings, master shop tickets, and additional shop tickets to ensure designs and standards are followed.
  • Be actively aware of production processes through regular plant visits.
  • Become licensed in states where engineering work is performed and review and stamp erection drawings, calculations, and repair details as assigned.
  • Evaluate design cost as compared to estimate and take appropriate action.
  • Complete repairs without assistance.
  • Adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
Requirements
  • 3-7 years of relevant engineering experience, either internal or external.
  • Previous precast knowledge is preferred.
  • Highly dependable with a strong work ethic.
  • Eager to learn and adapt to new situations.
  • Able to work individually or as part of a team.
  • Strongly values relationships and interaction with people.
  • Maintains a balanced perspective about change and adapts when necessary.
  • Positive outlook and strong communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including experience with engineering design software.

Education
  • BS in Civil Engineering, with a structural emphasis preferred.
  • PE Certification is required.
