Chemist, BYO

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemist to join our team at LyondellBasell's Bayport Polymers (BYO) site in Houston, TX. As a Chemist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and safety of our products, while also driving process improvements and innovation.

• Provide technical support to the Quality Control laboratory (Lab) and production units to drive improvements in product quality processes and the Lab.
• Ensure timely calibration and maintenance of Lab equipment, and provide instrumentation troubleshooting support.
• Develop and maintain industry best practice knowledge and apply it to the Lab, and support business teams as needed to develop testing protocols and methods for new products.
• Lead formal investigation teams for continual improvement, and be responsible for implementation and adherence of relevant Operational Excellence & corporate standards.

• BS degree in Chemistry or related STEM field.
• 6+ years of experience in a refining, petrochemical, or chemical environment.
• Demonstrated corporate competencies, troubleshooting skills, and IT capability for implementation of analytical instrumentation.
• Good computing skills, and ability to manage multiple and conflicting priorities.

• 2+ years of polymer lab experience.
• Experience using Gas Chromatography, Melt Flow, XRF, IR, OCS, and Brabender Extruder.
• Experience using lab software including Sample Manager, SAP, and Chromeleon.
• MOC system qualification or similar MOC experience.
