ENGEaton's ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Principal Engineer specializing in Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS). This position is focused on leading technological advancements in the MV Switchgear domain, particularly within GIS Systems.
The anticipated annual compensation for this role is $200,000. Additionally, this position is eligible for a variable incentive program.

As a Principal Engineer, you will be recognized as a subject matter expert, responsible for the strategic direction and execution of technology initiatives across various applications. Your role will involve talent development, management of research and development expenditures, and establishing key partnerships to foster technological innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the technical lead for intricate technology and product realization projects, utilizing internal project execution methodologies and overseeing Design and Technical Reviews. Develop and own strategies for technology roadmaps and product architectures that align with and support business objectives. Facilitate ideation sessions. Serve as Principal Investigator for government proposals and manage large-scale projects, including those considered innovative. Identify and strategically engage external partnerships, technologies, and best practices that align with multiple technology platforms and business strategies. Collaborate with business unit stakeholders to establish an intellectual property strategy and contribute to IP generation. Define project requirements and assist in executing various project aspects, including technology investigation, system specification, testing plans, modeling, simulation, component selection, and system analysis. Work closely with laboratory personnel to execute complex system tests at low and medium voltage levels.Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution. A minimum of ten (10) years of engineering experience. At least five (5) years of experience in the HV or MV Switchgear domain, with a focus on system architecture development, component specifications, and design of Gas Insulated Switchgear systems.Preferred Qualifications:
Proven experience in model-based design and simulation techniques across various system design aspects, including thermal management and reliability. Experience in the design and analysis of switchgear components such as vacuum interrupters, magnetics, insulation, circuit breakers, and bus bar systems. Extensive knowledge of materials relevant to GIS systems.Skills:
Strong collaborative orientation, thriving in a global team environment. Self-motivated and goal-oriented. Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with management and colleagues. Comprehensive understanding of switchgear systems and their performance impacts, along with the ability to conduct trade-off analyses to achieve design objectives.#LI-LE1
