Job Summary: Kaiser Permanente is seeking a skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Senior to join our team at Wailuku Medical Offices. As a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Senior, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasonographic procedures, training and orienting staff members, and collaborating with referring physicians to provide comprehensive diagnostic impressions or reports.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures, selecting the proper transducer frequency and diameter for each exam, and utilizing ancillary devices to obtain hard copy records of exams.
  • Utilize knowledge of the PACS and Radiology Information System to recognize electronic equipment limitations and differentiate normal and pathological processes.
  • Collaborate with referring physicians to contribute technical and professional knowledge to final diagnostic impressions or reports.
  • Provide technical and nursing aid for surgical biopsy and aspiration procedures.
  • Perform calibrations and adjustments of ultrasound equipment.
  • Train and orient other staff sonographers as directed.
  • Correlate patients' clinical history with test to be performed and consult with radiologists or supervising physicians after reviewing data to determine appropriate ultrasound procedures.
  • Remain knowledgeable and current regarding technological advances in the field of diagnostic medical sonography.
  • Promote and maintain inter-and intra-departmental working relations.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum two (2) years of post-graduate experience, including experience or successful completion of training program in area of specialty, if applicable.
Education:
  • Graduate from an approved ultrasound training program recognized by CAHEA, or equivalent related experience.
License, Certification, Registration:
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certificate.
  • Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
Additional Requirements:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in customer service, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, teamwork, and written communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associates degree.
