Senior Plans Examiner

Job Summary

CSG Consultants is seeking a highly skilled Senior Plans Examiner to join our team. As a key member of our Building Plan Review Department, you will be responsible for reviewing commercial, residential, and industrial project plans to ensure compliance with governing codes and standards.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of California Building Standards Codes and Referenced Standards. The ideal candidate will have the ability to read and interpret maps, construction diagrams, plans, blueprints, and specifications, and evaluate them for compliance with governing codes and standards.

Responsibilities

• Review commercial, residential, and industrial project plans for compliance with governing codes and standards.
• Exhibit sound judgment in providing expert code interpretation.
• Suggest alternate forms of compliance with codes and ordinances.
• Prepare and present effective oral and written reports.
• Represent the department at internal and external meetings.
• Stay current on legal and technical developments pertaining to building construction and codes.
• Mentor and train plans examiners.

Qualifications

• 5 to 10 years of industry experience, including 5 years reviewing plans for conformance to model codes.
• BS in Engineering or related field of equivalent work experience.
• Must possess multiple International Code Council (ICC) Certifications, including Certified Building Plans Examiner.
• Strong computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively with everyone regardless of level of technical expertise.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to drive to client job sites.
• Must be physically able to walk in and through job sites for extended periods.
• Work independently or in a team environment.
• On an as-needed basis, be able to work from home or at a client office location.
• Able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 35lbs.
• Regularly requires working in a sitting position with a computer for extended periods.

The compensation for this position is $46.00 to $62.00 per hour.
