Job Summary

Amergis is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Behavioral Classroom Aide to join our team. As a Behavioral Classroom Aide, you will work closely with students who require instructional and behavioral assistance, providing support services to help them achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills, while managing behavioral deficits and excesses.
  • Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance.
  • Assist students during general education classes and accompany them during recess and lunch periods.
  • Communicate pertinent information to teachers and maintain confidentiality regarding student and parent information.
  • Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel, such as PT, OT, and SLP.
  • Support students in developing independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • Participate in behavior management techniques under the direction of the teacher and/or other school professionals.
  • Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
  • Assist with transfers and ambulation.
Requirements
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participate and complete Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Hold current CPR certification if applicable.
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successfully complete new hire training as applicable to the job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Possess strong communication skills and proficiency in the English language.
  • Be computer proficient.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
