Medical Laboratory Technologist

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist at Corewell Health, you will play a critical role in assisting physicians in diagnosing and treating patients by performing, interpreting, and correlating clinical laboratory tests. Your expertise will be essential in preparing specimens for testing, screening patient specimens, and analyzing patient specimens for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.
Key Responsibilities- Operate laboratory equipment and perform functions including calibration, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, instrument validation studies, quality control, proficiency testing, and documentation.
- Read, interpret, and correlate clinical test results with patient history, diagnosis, and clinical condition to explain test results.
- Document and communicate significant information and special occurrences that may affect test results to the appropriate clinician.
- Routinely check supplies and reagents to ensure adequate supply levels and ensure that reagents are properly labeled and dated.
- Direct the work of laboratory assistants or laboratory services representatives and auxiliary personnel as appropriate.
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
- 1 year of relevant experience in a related field.

- CRT-Medical Technologist, Certified (MT) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology Spectrum Health labs except for Toxicology Upon Hire required.
- CRT-Medical Laboratory Scientist - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology Spectrum Health labs except for Toxicology Upon Hire required.
- CRT-American Medical Technologist, Certified (AMT) - AMT American Medical Technologists Spectrum Health labs except for Toxicology Upon Hire required.
- CRT-Clinical Toxicology - AACC American Association for Clinical Chemistry Toxicology Dept Only Upon Hire required.
The physical demands of this role include:
- Pallet to Waist (6 from floor) > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 25 lbs.
- Waist to Waist > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 25 lbs.
- Waist to Chest (below shoulder) > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 10 lbs.
- Waist to Overhead > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 5 lbs.
- Bilateral Carry > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 25 lbs.
- Unilateral Carry > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 10 lbs.
- Pushing Force > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 20 lbs.
- Pulling Force > 5 lbs: Seldom up to 15 lbs.
This role is based in the Lab - Blood Bank - GR department at Corewell Health, with a full-time schedule and 36 hours of work per week. The shift is from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday, with every third weekend.
