Key Responsibilities- Evaluate patients to determine their communication needs and develop individualized treatment plans to help them reach their maximum performance potential.
- Conduct and document thorough assessments of patients to diagnose communicative deficits and equipment needs.
- Develop and implement treatment programs based on initial evaluations and containing achievable functional goals.
- Comply with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines, and maintain timely and accurate departmental records.
- Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers on therapeutic procedures and strategies to promote independence and communication.
- Collaborate with nursing staff, residents, and families to maximize patient use of functional abilities.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team conferences to discuss patient progress, problems, or needs.
- Stay current with continuing education opportunities to maintain clinical currency and provide evidence-based practice.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and participate in facility quality improvement and safety programs.
- Master's Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Hold a current Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) credential offered by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
- Valid state Speech Language Pathology licensure.
